Hi! My name is Dorothy,
but you can call me Dorth.
I'm a photographer based out of Hamilton, Ontario. I specialize in natural light weddings, engagement, family, couple, and lifestyle photography. As a photographer, my objective is to capture imagery that genuinely reflects your story and shows your unique connection by creating a natural and laid back environment. My goal is to get everyone as comfy
as possible, have fun together and catch your personalities as they unfold in front of me!
My background in graphic design taught me a lot about technique and the artistic aspect of design which have influenced the way I edit, understand framing, composition etc., With constant shooting, I've grown to deepen my understanding of lighting, style, locations, and posing. I tend to find movement-based poses more interesting because my clients look more relaxed and it produces a more authentic image.
My humour and personality tend to be what people connect with. While other photographers can be quiet (in comparison) and produce sweet, soft images; I don’t take myself too seriously. I’ll probably talk your ear off about how much I love crunchy Cheetos and go after more active and dynamic images that are fun and energetic.
I enjoy a good cup of coffee, puppies, autobiographies, hiking, and Seinfeld-esc conversations.

Capturing you in your natural element.
It’s not uncommon for me to set up a posed shot and then ask you to do a bunch of silly things, it’s my way of letting the shot break down in order for your personality to shine through! -
If you’ve met me or interacted with me online you’ll know I don’t take myself too seriously. I’m pretty laid back and my humour is dry.
We’ll get along well if you’re someone who is willing to have fun, relax, be silly and trust me to try new ideas!
It should feel effortless, like you’ve just been hanging out with a one of your pals. 🙂 -
Perfectly edited or photoshopped images – I find beauty in the ordinary and prefer to capture your life as honestly as possible.
I like to keep things the way they are but if you decide after receiving your gallery that you would really like something removed, I’d be happy to do it for a nominal fee.
Very serious, specific or traditional portraits – I like to explore and bend the rules!
