Getting Started:
Questions to Ask Yourself About Your Day
What moments are important to you?
Do you want to capture the intimate moments with your special people the most?
Do you have a general layout of the day?
How many photos of the bridal party or the family are you hoping for?
Here are some examples of intimate shots I go for: getting ready, first look, bride and groom portraits, cocktail hour, ceremony, first dance, cake cutting, speeches, etc.
GETTING READY PHOTOS
I typically set aside an hour for either parties getting ready.
This is the perfect amount to allow for the spaciousness/ease needed to capture candid, real moments, as well as the styled photos.
Are you incorporating anything more personal to your day? Perhaps a first look?
Private vow reading? Reveal moments with loved ones? Let’s personalize it to tell your story.
FAMILY PHOTO LIST
I like to set aside at least 30+ minutes for family photos.
TIP: Assigning a person from each side of the family ahead of time to help wrangle everybody,
takes a lot of pressure off and can make this portion of your day run much smoother.
GOLDEN HOUR
Sunset photos range with the seasons, but golden hour is typically 30 minutes before sunset.
This is the best light of the day and a window of time within your busy day that allows for some slower moments together.
DANCING IMAGES
Setting aside 30 minutes for photos of you and your guest cutting loose tends to be the perfect amount of time.
FUN EXITS
A great opportunity for photos is a fun exit. With careful planning, this can be incorporated
during the time allowed or can be staged earlier in the night to capture the moment without any stress.
What You’ll Need to Prepare
A Photo list
A general list of family images you would like and the name of someone designated
to help you find those people when the time comes. This will make family picture time effortless and stress free.
A Timeline
Writing your timeline ensures we have time for everything.
It allows me to know where I and my team need to be and at what time.
This is a great opportunity to include important phone numbers in case we need to contact the
bride, groom, best man or maid of honour etc. throughout the day.
Okay You’re Booked!
What Happens Now?
If you have already chosen a package with engagement photos, we can start by scheduling those first. Otherwise, let’s meet for coffee to discuss your dream day!
Next, you’ll send the general details of your wedding day (date, time, location, etc. and which package you’d like to move forward with)
From here, we sign the contract together and send a deposit
Lastly, I’ll need you to send me your shot list and timeline.
